Make the special items visible in your inventory
List glass pieces, artwork, antiques, pianos and unusually heavy or oversized furniture. Include dimensions, delicate finishes and any existing damage. Discuss these items before the move so the handling needs can be reviewed.
Prepare without risking the finish
Empty furniture where practical and follow manufacturer guidance. Keep loose hardware together and labeled. Avoid applying packing tape directly to finished furniture. Ask for help if you are unsure how an item should be wrapped or disassembled.
Pack manageable boxes
Choose sound boxes appropriate for the contents. Cushion fragile items, keep boxes at a manageable weight and label them clearly. Avoid loose sharp objects. If you need professional packing or custom preparation, request it while the estimate is being arranged.
Keep essentials and valuables with you
Set aside medicines, documents, keys and irreplaceable personal items. Keep fragile pieces away from busy walkways until the crew is ready. Point out delicate items during the pickup walkthrough and discuss their placement at delivery.
